Gestalt
Come Together - ceramic invitational, December, 2023

Gestalt
The whole is greater than the sum of its parts.

Gestalt exemplifies how our world is a better place when we work together.

The vessel was created using three distinct types of clay which are intertwined to become one. This union exemplifies the diversity in humankind and demonstrates that we are stronger together.

The exterior of the vessel exhibits a refined and smooth surface. However, upon closer inspection, imperfections are visible on the inside, reflecting the beauty and complexity often found just below the surface.

Shaped into a chalice, the piece gives the impression that it is functional and could hold liquid. However, the pointed bottom presents limitations. Only through the support of the stand, which represents our greater community, can the piece — and the people — stand strong and reach their full potential.

Dinner Party
Terri Eger is most at peace when her hands are touching clay. The rotation of the wheel during the creation process is hypnotic. Time slows down. The world melts away.

She has found joy in sharing her love of clay with others by celebrating the every day and using functional pieces.

Through her Dinner Party series, she invites you to come to the table with friends and family. To take time to listen and join in the laughter that is shared when people are brought together.

To pause. To breathe. To celebrate – even the smallest moments.
